UK Football betting focus on old rivals
Punters getting involved in UK football betting will have their own thoughts on who will come out on top at Anfield, as near rivals Liverpool and Manchester United do battle on Saturday.
This game is always huge no matter what is at stake, but both sides have a lot riding on the early kick-off as we get to the crunch stage of the season.
With a nine-point lead at the top of the table, UK football betting traders feel Sir Alex Ferguson’s side look to be edging closer to their first Premiership title in four years but this fixture could be crucial.
After beating Liverpool 2-0 at Old Trafford back in October, United know Rafa Benitez’s men will be out for revenge as the Merseysiders look to seal a top-three finish and a place in next season’s Champions League.
UK football betting punters will want to take into account that Liverpool are unbeaten at home in the league this season, which includes a 2-0 win over Chelsea, and they would like nothing better than putting a dent in their rivals’ title hopes.
But it’s been six years since the last league victory for the home side over United - it came in 2001/02 when Michael Owen scored a brace in a 3-1 victory.
Elsewhere, online football betting is available on the other major Premiership matches, as the battle to avoid the drop hots up.
The game of the weekend at the bottom end of the table sees Watford face Charlton at Vicarage Road.
The Hornets are currently bottom and ten points adrift of safety, so Aidy Boothroyd’s men will see this clash as a must-win game.
Charlton are third from bottom after a recent resurgence, which has seen Alan Pardew’s men pick up seven points from their last five matches. The Addicks can see salvation and are now six points behind 17th placed Wigan.
