Online Golf betting in Sony Open

With the US tour getting into swing, all eyes will be on the Sony Open for online golf betting opportunities this week.

David Toms’ game looks to be coming together nicely as he prepares to defend his title in Hawaii and many will again consider the American for a golf bet.

Toms managed to finish in the top 15 of the PGA money list for the seventh time in eight years and has made an encouraging start this time around finishing tied eighth at the Mercedes-Benz Championship also in Hawaii.

But Vijay Singh also knows what it’s like to claim victory in Honolulu after winning the Sony Open in 2005 and will be eager to maintain his 100 per cent start to 2007.

The Fijian produced a hugely impressive display of controlled shot-making to win by two strokes in tough, testing conditions last week and the hard work he has put in on the range in the last two months is already beginning to pay off.

Jin Furyk had a disappointing time last week finishing well down the field in 18th place but those online golf betting fans fancying him for a golf bet this week will be aware he has a proven track record on the course coming joint-seventh last year.

Geoff Ogilvy and Luke Donald, the other two players in the world top 10 who are competing this week, produced solid if unspectacular performances at the Mercedes and their games are sure to be sharper for the experience.

And the same can be said of 2006 Rookie of the Year Trevor Immelman, who has started the new season in the same vein of rich form that he finished the old one. Might he be a potential prospect for future online golf betting?

Chad Campbell has fond memories of the Sony Open after finishing joint second to Toms last year.

It promises to be an enthralling contest for golfers and punters alike with a host of online golf betting opportunities available with Blue Square.

Federer a favourite again in tennis betting

Roger Federer makes his season debut in the AAMI Classic Kooyong, as the world’s top players gear themselves up for the Australian Open, providing Blue Square punters with more tennis betting opportunities.

The Swiss ace will be a short price for a tennis bet at the Melbourne event and will be joined by seven players in the round-robin event: Andy Roddick, David Nalbandian, Ivan Ljubicic, Marat Safin, Tommy Hass, Andy Murray and Radek Stepanek.

Each player is guaranteed three matches with the final scheduled for Saturday and Federer expected to feature heavily at the business end of events.

The world number one took the title in 2005 but US star Roddick claimed the traditional pre-Melbourne tournament 12 months ago.

Ljubicic beat Murray on Saturday in the final of the Qatar Open and both players looked in excellent form ahead of the year’s first Grand Slam but the rest of the field and tennis betting fans will know that Federer will, once again be the man to beat in Australia and around the world this year.

Stuttering Chelsea still fancied for online football betting

Chelsea will be keen to halt a ‘mini-crisis’ when they face Wigan in the Premiership at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and many punters will be following them with an online football bet.

The Blues have drawn their last three Premiership matches in their pursuit of Manchester United and will be desperate for all three points against a Wigan side who have not tasted success in their previous seven Premiership encounters.

Jose Mourinho is, once again, in the news for the wrong reasons, with rumours that he is set to quit the club in the summer.

The Portuguese tactician has denied the speculation but could do with all three points to keep the Stamford Bridge fans happy.

Chelsea will be confident after their 6-1 humbling of Macclesfield in the FA Cup at the weekend that they can get back on track and start to close the gap on Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.
