Rangers clash brings European football betting opportunity

Football betting fans across Britain will once again be coming across names of places they never knew existed, as our sides enter the qualification race for the UEFA Champions League.

Rangers start their campaign in the second qualifying round as hot favourites amongst football betting enthusiasts as they welcome the first ever Montenegrin Champions League representatives in the form of Fudbalski klub Zeta Golubovci.

It’s often the case in match-ups like this that football betting fans are unsure of what to expect. Whilst most will expect Rangers to win convincingly at Ibrox and ease through the tie unscaved, FK Zeta, winners of the Montenegrin championship, proved in their last tie against Lithuania’s FBK Kaunas that they are not a side to be taken lightly.

Having taken a 3-1 lead to Lithuania for the second leg, Zeta were facing a competition exit in the face after going 3-0 down in just 17 minutes. But they pulled the two goals back to clinch a trip to Glasgow, proving that they are far from the push-over’s that some football betting fans might envisage them to be.

Their side, with the exception of Slovakian defender Branislav Vukomanović is made up entirely of home-grown players, led by Montenegrin internationals Janko Tumbasović and Milan Radulović and so local pride will not be lacking.

Eastern European sides can be notoriously difficult to break down and so those looking to place a football bet on a hat-full of goals for the Rangers front-men may be in for some disappointment.

But Rangers will be looking to ease the pressure on them for the second leg. Zeta’s dilapidated 5,000 capacity Trešnjica Stadium is not renowned as the most welcoming of venues and should Zeta upset the football betting guides in the return leg, Rangers would hardly be the first big name to have come unstuck in Eastern Europe.

The expectation of the football betting community is well and truly on a Rangers victory and they should take their place in the third qualifying round alongside the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Valencia, Sevilla, Lazio and Ajax.

Pre-season friendly matches also bring a host of football betting opportunities this week.

With the Community Shield just around the corner, Chelsea and Manchester United are both in pre-season action this week. Chelsea travel to Copenhagen to face Brondby whilst Alex Feguson’s men prepare for their title defence by welcoming Inter Milan to Old Trafford.

With the football season only a matter of days away, make sure you stay logged on to Blue SQ, as there are still plenty of football betting opportunities to be had.
