Online golf betting attentions on Fifth Major
The majority of the world’s top 50 players will be in the field for the Tour Players Championship this weekend, with most of the online golf betting focus on Sawgrass.
The tournament is commonly known as the ‘unofficial fifth Major’ and players will be tested to the maximum, with the Florida course offering one of the toughest finishing stretches anywhere in the world.
Golf betting customers will have to decide whether one of the big names, such as Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson, can break the recent run of unfancied winners.
Since world number one Woods won the event back in 2001, the likes of Criag Perks (2002), Fred Funk (2005) and Stephen Ames (2006) have been victorious.
The dreaded 17th hole will provide problems for players and golf betting punters alike. The instantly recognisable 137-yard par three with it’s island green continues to cause problems for the pros.
Two years ago, when rain meant that both the third and fourth rounds had to be played on the Sunday, 54 balls found a watery grave on the final day!
Gloucester or Leicester for Rugby Union betting punters?
The rugby betting UK customers must make a decision on who will be crowned Guinness Premiership champions, with Gloucester set to face Leicester in the final at Twickenham on Saturday.
Defending champions Gloucester beat Bristol 35-13 in their play-off, while Leicester Tigers ran out 40-26 victory over Wasps.
Those people getting involved in rugby union betting will be taking note of the fact that England scrum-half Harry Ellis faces an anxious wait to see if he will be fit.
Leicester, who are attempting to complete the treble, are waiting for news of Ellis’ knee injury.
Rugby League Betting hones in on Headingley
After last week’s Super League weekend away at the Millennium Stadium, rugby league betting punters will now turn their attentions to the Challenge Cup.
The tie of the fifth round is at Headingley on Saturday, when top flight rivals Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors do battle.
The 1999 winners entertain the 2002 winners and rugby league betting traders will be taking into account their recent Super League form.
Leeds have won their last four games, while Wigan have been hit-and-miss with seven wins and six defeats in Super League.
The last defeat for Tony Smith’s Rhinos though came against Wigan, with the Warriors winning 18-20 at Headingley on April 10.
Plenty options for a bet on horse racing
There are many options to have a bet on horse racing this weekend with something for everyone.
Ascot holds its last day of racing on Saturday before the Royal Meeting with the highly competitive Victoria Cup, which always throws up a conundrum for horse racing betting fans.
The 7f contest is usually a curtain-raiser for the top handicaps and brings together a mix of sprinters and milers.
Saturday also sees Lingfield’s Derby Trial, which could feature Metaphoric if he misses Chester in midweek. Michael Bell’s unbeaten colt will surely be a warm order in Blue Square’s horse racing betting if he does run.
On the same day Haydock holds its mixed card featuring the Swinton Hurdle, for those who like a bet on horse racing over the sticks as well as top quality flat action.
