Experience some thrilling cricket betting action with the World Twenty20
After England’s thrilling victory in the Nat West Series at Lords at
the weekend, the cricket betting action doesn’t stop, with the World
Twenty20 getting underway in South Africa.
After initial resistance from the ICC and some test playing nations, Twenty20 cricket
has now been accepted as an international cricket tournament. With the massive success
of the format at county level, the doubters have been won around by the sight of
big crowds, younger audiences and increased cricket betting interest.
England have to wait until Thursday to get started in the tournament, which opens
with hosts South Africa taking on the West Indies in Johannesburg, although there
is still some British cricket betting before then.
The minnows of Scotland take to the crease on Wednesday against India in Durban and
all though the chances of a cricket betting upset are remote to say the least, Scotland
will be out to enjoy themselves against one of the world’s heavyweights.
World Champions Australia are the hot tip in the online cricket betting markets and
understandably so. World cricketer of the year Ricky Ponting will join the side after
his wife recovered from a health scare although the Australians have opted for proven
50-over players in their 15-man squad, rather than Twenty20 specialists.
The same can’t be said of England, who have named a number of 20-over experts
in their squad. Andrew Flintoff is fit enough to join the team in South Africa and
he’ll be joined by James Kirtley, Darren Maddy, Chris Schofield, Vikram Solanki
and Jeremy Snape – all players who have excelled in the domestic Twenty20 competition.
England join a number of other teams who the golf betting punters are having difficulty
splitting and in many respects, knock-out international Twenty20 is something of
an unknown quantity.
England head to the tournament as the most experienced side in the 20-over format,
but New Zealand, Sri Lanka and hosts South Africa are also amongst the frontrunners
on the cricket betting market. The reality is, you could make a case for any of the
top eight sides to be World Twenty20 champions on September 24th.
It’s sure to produce some great cricket over the next few weeks. The cynics
and purists might not approve of the “hit-and-giggle” version of the
game but whatever you think of the shorter format, it’s proved a massive success.
With so little to split the sides, there’s bound to be a surprise along the
way so log-on to Blue Square today and check out the latest cricket
betting odds for the ICC World Twenty20.
