Horse Racing betting focus on Aintree showpiece

All the sports betting UK attention will be on the world’s most famous steeplechase this weekend, as Aintree plays host to the 2007 Grand National.

Another large field will be battling it out over four-and-half miles and 16 daunting fences, with the race due to get underway at 4:15pm.

Fences like ‘Bechers Brook’, ‘Canal Turn’ and ‘The Chair’ are known throughout the world and millions of people will be getting involved with horse racing betting this Saturday.

The 2006 winner, Numbersixvalverde, will be among the favourites with horse racing betting punters, who may be tempted by the prospect of back-to-back wins for the Martin Brassil-trained 11-year-old.
Jockey Niall Madden feels there is every chance of success for the Irish runner, who would become the first horse since Red Rum (1973 - 1974) to win consecutive Grand Nationals.
Madden said: “I can see him winning again, but everything has to go his way.
“Everything has to fall into place, you just have to hope and have your fingers crossed. But he will have a chance, given a clear round and everything going according to plan.”
2005 winner Hedgehunter and Dun Doire are likely to be among the other leading contenders in the online horse racing betting.

FA Cup thrillers for UK football betting

The online football betting focus this weekend will be on the FA Cup semi-finals between Watford and Manchester United and Chelsea and Blackburn.

Saturday’s encounter will see the Premiership’s top and bottom clubs do battle at Villa Park, with Sir Alex Ferguson’s side seeking a domestic double.

Having already seen off four Premiership teams so far in the competition - Aston Villa, Portsmouth, Reading, Middlesbrough - the Reds Devils will be firm favourites for UK football betting punters though.

But the history of the FA Cup gives the underdogs hope and Watford will go in search of a place in the final for the first time since 1984.

Sunday’s last four encounter sees Chelsea face Blackburn at Old Trafford, with the two sides set to meet for the fourth time this season.

Jose Mourinho’s side defeated Rovers in the previous three matches, knocking them out of the Carling Cup at the third round stage and beating them home and away in the Premiership.

Online soccer betting punters are likely to make the League Cup winners favourites to make it to the first final at the new Wembley stadium.

Proteas and Black Caps are online cricket betting option

Punters who get involved with online cricket betting will be paying close attention to Saturday’s World Cup clash between South Africa and New Zealand.

Both teams started the tournament with high hopes of winning the event for the first time, with South Africa in particular gaining plenty of support.

Graeme Smith’s men reached the top of the world rankings before the tournament started, but online cricket betting followers will have been noting their patchy form in the Carribean.

Meanwhile, the Black Caps have been impressive in following up their whitewash of Australia in the recent series in New Zealand. Stephen Fleming’s men will be confident of claiming another big scalp in Grenada.
