Plenty choice for a bet on horse racing
There’s cracking top-class action this weekend for those who like a bet on horse racing.
Newbury on Saturday hosts the Totesport Trophy, always a highly competitive handicap hurdle which takes some working out for online horse racing betting punters. The weights are headed by the Philip Hobbs-trained Noble Request, who has won seven of his 27 career starts but will be having his first ever run at Newbury.
David Pipe’s hat-trick seeking Acambo could well go off favourite in Blue Square’s online horse racing betting after landing the Ladbroke hurdle in fine style at Ascot last time, while another in-form runner Tarlac - from Nicky Henederson’s yard - and Pierse Hurdle runner-up Mister Hight also look set to be popular selections for those having a bet on horse racing this weekend.
Last year’s race was abandoned due to frost but since 2000 those having a horse racing bet will be interested to learn that the average price of the winner has been over 10/1, while Mick Fitzgerald is the most successful current jockey with three victories in the past nine years.
The totesport Trophy was first run as the Schweppes Gold Trophy and usually provides plenty of clues to big festival races, including the Champion Hurdle.
If you like to bet on horse racing, you would probably like to know that Newbury also hosts the Game Spirit Chase which could see the return of Well Chief. The David Pipe-trained eight-year-old has been off the track since 2005, but is said to be in good form as he prepares for another crack at the Queen Mother Champion Chase, after finishing second to Moscow Flyer two years ago.
Voy Por Ustedes and Foreman are a couple of top-class rivals who will be popular among those having a horse racing bet with Blue Square on Saturday and both are also Cheltenham bound.
Meanwhile in Ireland, the Hennessy Cognac Gold at Leopardstown on Saturday takes centre stage, with Beef Or Salmon looking for a third win in the top class chase and the veteran will again be a popular choice in Blue Square’s online horse racing betting. The 2005 Grand National winner Hedgehunter may also return to fences after just one run over hurdles this term, although his trainer has been worried about his fitness. In Compliance, trying 3 miles for the first time, and Lexus Chase winner The Listener will also be difficult to beat. To be in with a chance of winning, bet on horse racing at Blue Square today.
